Expert: Nokia only to fulfil earlier deals, not to return to Russia
MOSCOW, Dec 5 (PRIME) -- Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia will only fulfil its obligations under the already signed contracts while its full return to Russia is out of the question, news and research agency TelecomDaily General Director Denis Kuskov told PRIME on Monday.
“A permit was obtained to execute the earlier signed contracts that the company didn’t manage to complete, which were signed before February 24. The full return is naturally out of the question and will not be the case in the nearest time, the contracts that were already signed can be fulfilled,” Kuskov said.
Mobile operator MegaFon head Khachatur Pombukhchan told RBC Daily in an interview that Nokia had sent four requests for export licenses to ship equipment to Russia – two to European regulators and two to the U.S. ones. He said one was approved and decisions are expected on the rest.
Media reported earlier that Nokia plans to retreat from Russia by the end of 2022.
